Some Seriously Important Facts About Sex Toys

I am going to start with some scary facts that are so little known it’s ludicrous, and finish with the fun stuff.

Not all sex toys are created equal… and the spectrum ranges from safe, attractive, and scent-free all the way to toxic, unhygienic, and reeking of mystery plastics. And while you might think that's the scary part, the real scary part is that a company could have a manufacturing plant in China put “silicone” on the label when it’s far from silicone. Nothing and no one can stop them. Nothing on that packaging has to hold a grain of truth. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REGULATION! Wait, WHAT!? I'm sorry, I learned this and thought it was insane.

How can this be? The things we put inside ourselves can have literally toxic ingredients and say they are made of something non-toxic. Perhaps it is just that politicians are so conservative or embarrassed that they can't be the one to bring it up; or that sexual public health education is limited for the same reason; or that people believe abstinence is more important or sex is shameful and sex toys are “bad/evil”. Whatever the reason, it is a travesty.

I am going to do my part to spread the word! Here is a list of fantastic resources for prospective adult toy shoppers and current toy owners alike.

“Toxic Toys – The Definite Guide to Toxic Sex Toy Awareness.” The rest of the site is amazing for reviews and info about all kinds of sexual products.

“Guide to Sex Toy Materials” -- While sex toys are made from a wide variety of substances, most use the materials on this site.

Ok, now for the fun stuff. There are some basics you should know about how the toy will be used, or, more importantly, the person it is used on. Different people prefer different kinds of stimulation, have a conversation with the person the toy is to be used on about what they prefer! The two basic categories for female masturbation toys are penetration and vibration. There are very good toys in each category for various personal preferences. Here are my top picks, followed by a couple of other takes on these lists.

The first and most commonly known wonder vibrator is the Hitachi Magic Wand, so popular infact it has its own wiki page

The second is my favorite discreet bullet style vibe the Vesper by Crave. Tiny, quiet, rechargeable, water resistant, stainless steel, and discreet! How can you go wrong!

As for dildos, there are so many shapes and sizes that this has to be a decision made by the person it is going to be entering. Go explore, visit some toy shops and check out the selection.

Here is a great review of a few of the more popular brands

Finally, I will leave you with this list of “The Best Sex Toys” by Dangerous Lilly, a woman who seems to know her stuff and would probably provide personal recommendations for you specific stimulatory desires.
